- Prep the surface. Follow SEMCO’s standard surface preparation steps for your substrate, and test the surface’s pH after prepping - the optimal range is 6.8-7.8.
- Mask off any areas not receiving the sealer.
- Apply the first coat with a 1/4" woven short nap roller, Magic Trowel, or airless sprayer (tip size 17, 850–1,000 PSI, held about 18" from the surface). Apply in one direction only — don’t go back and forth.
- Let it dry roughly 30–45 minutes (longer in high humidity) before recoating.
- Repeat for at least 2 coats, alternating direction with each coat for even coverage
- On vertical surfaces, apply from top to bottom with a roller and Magic Trowel, using an HVLP sprayer with tip size 17 for larger areas.
- Allow a full cure before exposing the surface to traffic — as fast as 18 hours at 90°F, up to 48 hours at 45°F.
Good to know: Avoid applying in direct afternoon sun or above 85°F. It cannot be applied to wet or damp substrates — maximum residual moisture is 3%.

Acceptable Moisture Standards
- Moisture Content: Aim for 3.5% to 4.5%. Levels above 4.5% typically require specialized epoxy primers or additional drying time.
- Internal Relative Humidity (RH): According to ASTM F2170, the internal RH of the slab should generally be 75% to 80% or lower.
- Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER): Per ASTM F1869, the emission rate should not exceed 3 to 5 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. over 24 hours. Exceptions for Specific Products
- Cure and Seal Products: Some water-based "cure and seal" compounds are designed for application to "green" or damp concrete immediately after the bleed water has disappeared.
- Penetrating Sealers: Certain breathable penetrating sealers (like siliconates) may be more forgiving of slight dampness, but the surface should still be free of puddles or standing water. Simple Readiness Tests
- Plastic Sheet Test (ASTM D4263): Tape an 18”x18” square of clear plastic to the floor, sealing all edges with duct tape. Wait 24 hours. If condensation appears under the plastic or the concrete has darkened, the slab is too wet.
- Water Drop Test: Drop a small amount of water onto the surface. It should soak in relatively quickly. If it beads, there may be a previous sealer or contaminant present that must be removed. Important Considerations
- Drying Time: For a fresh pour, the standard recommendation is to wait at least 28 days for proper curing and moisture stabilization before sealing.
- Weather Conditions: Avoid sealing if rain is expected within 24 hours of application.
- Humidity: For interior projects, ensure the ambient relative humidity is below 70%during application to prevent the sealer from turning white or "blushing".

01 Degrease, then Prep D
You’ll need: a degreaser · Nu-Lift Cleaner · Stone Soap
- Degrease oil and transmission stains first. No coating bonds to oil, and Prep D isn’t a degreaser.
- Wet the slab, apply Nu-Lift Cleaner and work it in with a stiff brush to lift efflorescence and mineral deposits.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Follow with Stone Soap to clear the residue and rebalance the surface pH, then rinse again.
- Let the slab dry completely. Concrete holds water long after the surface looks dry.
02 Reinforce cracks and joints
You’ll need: Fabric Reinforcement · Liquid Membrane
- Fill anything wider than ¼" with a suitable filler first.
- Coat the crack or joint generously, lay Fabric Reinforcement into the wet film, press it flat.
- Wait 10–15 minutes, then coat over it to encapsulate.
03 Two coats of membrane
- Stir well — pigments settle and unstirred product gives uneven color.
- ½" nap roller on an extension pole; cut in the edges with a brush.
- Recoat when it holds no fingerprint. Second coat perpendicular to the first, same day.
- Inspect for pinholes and thin spots before you stop.
04 Cure, then seal
Wait about 2 days after the last coat of membrane, then seal: three coats of Titan Shield Gloss or two of Sealer MATTE, about 6–8 mil per coat, with Non-Skid Additive mixed in. The membrane still needs its full 7-day cure before heavy use.

01 Clean the surface
You’ll need: Nu-Lift Cleaner · Stone Soap · Power Cleaner if oily
- Mineral deposits or efflorescence: Prep D — Nu-Lift, then Stone Soap.
- Oil or grease: Prep B first — Power Cleaner, then Stone Soap.
- Let it dry completely — below 3% residual moisture.
02 Mask off
Mask everything that isn’t being sealed. Pull the tape before the sealer fully cures.
03 Two coats
You’ll need: ¼" woven roller or airless sprayer (17 tip)
- Stir well before use.
- Roll on a thin, even first coat. It goes on white or milky and dries to a natural matte finish.
- Let it dry — about 30–45 minutes, up to 2 hours when humid.
- Apply a minimum of two coats, about 6–8 mil each. No separate primer — it’s self-priming.
04 Let it cure
Full cure takes about 18 hours at 90°F and up to 48 hours at 45°F. Keep traffic off until then.

01 Mix it in first
You’ll need: Non-Skid Additive · Titan Shield Gloss or Sealer MATTE
- Lightly shake the Non-Skid container.
- Empty it into the matching container of sealer — one per gallon or per 5-gallon pail.
- Mix thoroughly.
02 Apply the sealer as normal
Prep and apply the sealer following its own instructions — three coats of Titan Shield Gloss or two of Sealer MATTE. Keep stirring as you go so the grit stays mixed through.
03 Let it cure
Keep traffic off until the sealer has fully cured.
